Support Request: Unable to Upgrade SiteKiosk

Description

I previously had 8 SiteKiosk licenses running 9.7.5026, and decided to upgrade to version 9.8.5779, purchasing an additional 8 licenses. Unfortunately, the installer for the new version doesn't seem to work properly, giving Error 1722, as shown in the screenshot.

Prior to running the installer, I had rebooted the system, logged in as the local administrator and ensured that the SiteKiosk user was not logged in. In the process of troubleshooting this error, I have removed all SiteKiosk files and services, checked for Windows errors, deleted the previous user profile associated with SiteKiosk, and tried again with a freshly-created user profile. None of this has helped; every time I run the installer, I get Error 1722.

Attached is a zip file including the error logs left in the SiteKiosk\LogFiles directory after a failed installation, and a screenshot of the relevant error message.

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. For various reasons, when installing SiteKiosk, you may encounter issues related to security settings on your computer regarding the local SiteKiosk user account. To bypass this, we will install SiteKiosk without the user then install the user right after. See steps below:

Using Command Prompt:

This command will install SiteKiosk without the local Restricted User. Allow 30 mins or check Task Manager on when the installer would finish:

Sitekiosk9.exe /S /V"/qn INSTALLSYSTEMSECURITYUSER=\"\""

Be sure to navigate to the path of executable folder or list the full path of the executable.

To install the restricted user account later, you will use these commands in Command Prompt:

Enter commands:

cd %SiteKioskPath%

OR

cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk"

Then this command and wait for the confirmation prompt on completion:

SystemSecurity /uninstall

Check if the directory named "SiteKiosk" still exists under "C:\Users". If so, delete it manually.

Run this last command (there will not be any prompts, it may be very quick in some cases):

SystemSecurity /install

OR change the command to include a strong password to match your organization's requirements:

SystemSecurity /install [/user:SiteKiosk /pass:MyPassword12!]

Restart the computer
