Support Request: Sitekiosk installation problem

Description

Hello,

I had sitekiosk installed.
I had configured an http address and when the sitekiosk session was launched, it sets the address to https so it displayed an https certificate problem.
I tried to solve this problem but to no avail.

So I have:
- uninstalled sitekiosk,
- delete the folder in C: \ Programes Files (X86);
-remove the services with CMD;
-restart the computer;
- now I am trying to reinstall version 8.85.2082 from siteKiosk;
-first I got the error message as an attachment ("A user account with name 'SiteKiosk' already exists. Please remove account and reinstall or run 'SystemSecurity.exe /install[/user:SiteKiosk [/pass:<YourPassword>]]'.");
-I therefore deleted the SiteKiosk user in User Management;
-and I redid the installation,
-the installation finishes correctly, but when I look in the start menu, there is no sitekiosk application;
-I am going to the directory C: \ Programes Files (X86) \ Sitekiok \ serverconfig but the folder is empty.

Can you help me please?

I tried to install standard and custom mode but it is the same case.

Hello,

Generally a new installation of SiteKiosk will not help with certificate problems as the ssl certificate management applies to the web page (web server) and the Windows system.

About the installation.
There is no known issue on supported Windows Systems. But SiteKiosk 8.x is no longer supported (nor is it supported on Windows 10).
First you should install the most current SiteKiosk version

If you still have problems with the installation, please contact us via e-mail for a description on how to remove SiteKiosk manually.

Mr. Michael Olbrich,

Thanks for your feedback.

Regarding the certificate issue:
- when I test on the admin session, it works correctly without asking for the SSL certificate and the site link is in http: // as it normally is;
- while when I am in the sitekosk session, it shows me the SSL certificate error message and the url becomes an https: // link.

This is in fact the source of my problem.

Can you help me please?

Hello,

a redirect from http to https is done by the web server, but not by the browser you use to open the web page. You can clear the cache of the other browser and check again. Next, you should first start SiteKiosk in "Start once" mode to test if there are any user-dependent settings in Windows regarding the certificate settings.

If the web server is redirecting to https: //, then it shouldn't be http: // in the administration session.
But my case here is that:
-in internet explorer of the administration session, I am not redirected to https: // but I remain in http
- while in sitekiosk, I am redirected to https while I have to stay in http;
-I tried to clear the cache of internet explorer in the sitekiosk but I don't know how to do it because in sitekiosk, there is no internet option.

Hello,

Then the web server might make a difference with the user agent and therefore direct SiteKiosk to https?
You can try to deactivate SiteKiosk in the user agent header. To do this, open the SiteKiosk configuration tool and go to >Basic >Start Page & Browser. Click the Advanced button and uncheck the box labeled 'Add "SiteKiosk" to user agent header'.

Or it is about any IE compatibility view setting?
https://www.provisio.com/en-US/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=9701

The cache in SiteKiosk is deleted on logout and screen saver activation by default (settings at Logout).
https://www.provisio.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?logout.htm
In IE follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Internet Explorer
- Click Tools, and then click Delete Browsing History.
- In Delete Browsing History, click Delete All.

You may also reset the IE settings in SiteKiosk user account? How to access the IE settings in the SiteKiosk user – please see here:
https://www.provisio.com/en-GB/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=5826
To reset the IE settings
- Open Internet explorer
- Click on Tools
- Click on Internet options
- Select Security tab
- Click on the button ‘Reset all zones to default level’
- Select Advanced tab
- Click on the button ‘Reset…’

If that doesn’t help and the web page is available in public send us your SiteKiosk configuration (…\SiteKiosk\Config\YourConfig.skcf) and a current log file (…\SiteKiosk\Logfiles) via e-mail.
E-Mail support-europe(at)provisio.com
Then we can test it with the current SiteKiosk version.

Alternatively update SiteKiosk, switch to the Chrome browser skin and disable the website certificate check if necessary (enable the checkbox “Ignore certificate errors” at “-->Start Page & Browser-->Customize-->Settings”).
With “Chrome Browser” skin (available since SiteKiosk 9.x) SiteKiosk does use a Chromium Browser engine (CEF) instead of the IE Webbrowser Control.
The CEF engine will be installed with SiteKiosk 9.x.
